Altyn Kapalova

Artist, acvtist, and founder of Central Asia's Museum of Feminist and Queer Art

Altyn Kapalova is a Research Fellow and Acting Director of the Cultural Heritage and Humanities Unit in Kyrgyzstan. She is also the visionary founder of Central Asia’s Museum of Feminist and Queer Art, which promotes inclusivity and representation, providing space for underrepresented narratives within the region’s cultural landscape. Altyn’s anthropological research informs her own artistic vision, as she creates experimental works that seamlessly blend elements of art, science, and politics. Her work uplifts the voices of marginalized communities across Central Asia, and empowers them to participate in political discourse.
