Ahmed Al-Omran is a blogger and journalist who frequently comments on political and social developments in Saudi Arabia. In 2005, Al-Omran founded his blog, Saudi Jeans, as a means of improving his English. Saudi Jeans became one of the most prominent blogs in the Middle East and was a platform used to demonstrate the role the Internet played in Saudi Arabia’s closed society. From 2013 to 2017, Al-Omran was the Saudi correspondent at the Wall Street Journal, and he was also a correspondent at the Financial Times. Al-Omran is currently publishing a newsletter on Saudi Arabia called Riyadh Bureau. His work has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, and Foreign Policy.
