Authoritarian repression and armed conflict disproportionately affect vulnerable groups, such as women and LGBTQI+ individuals, subjecting them to additional forms of violence like threats of sexual violence, conflict-related sexual violence, online harassment, smear campaigns, and slut-shaming. This panel will explore how women’s rights defenders in Afghanistan, Sudan, Tigray, and Libya campaign against gender-based and conflict-related sexual violence while pursuing pathways to protection, accountability, and healing.
