Areej al Sadhan

Activist and sister of jailed Saudi dissident and humanitarian worker Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan

Areej al-Sadhan is an activist and sister to Red Crescent humanitarian worker Abdulrahman al-Sadhan, who disappeared in 2018 during a mass crackdown on critics and rights activists in Saudi Arabia. He was held in a secret prison and tortured by Saudi officials. After three years without official charges or access to his lawyer, Abdulrahman was sentenced in a sham secret trial to 20 years in Saudi prison, all for posting a tweet. Areej remains outspoken about the ill treatment of her brother and other activists and has publicly denounced Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s brutal human rights abuses.
