El Chigüire Bipolar is a satirical news platform created in 2008 by Venezuelans Oswaldo Graziani, Juan Andres Ravell, and Elio Casale. Through regular publications, El Chiguire Bipolar acquired a large following by offering humorous approaches to criticism of the Venezuelan government and of the ramifications the regime has had on the daily lives of Venezuelans. Ranging from current event blogs, web animations such as “La Isla Presidencial,” and a vibrant social media presence, El Chigüire Bipolar has provided a powerful source of both activism and comedic relief for nearly two decades. In 2017, El Chiguire Bipolar received the Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent.
