Zhino Babamiri

Norwegian-Kurdish human rights advocate

Zhino Babamiri is a Norwegian-Kurdish human rights advocate, designer, and board member of Hiwa Life, a nonprofit organization supporting human rights, civil society, and democratic engagement in Kurdistan and other marginalized regions of Iran. She is the daughter of Rezgar Beigzadeh Babamiri, a political prisoner who has faced multiple death sentences in Iran, and she has become a prominent voice advocating against executions and for political prisoners and their families. Through international advocacy, media engagement, and grassroots campaigns, Zhino works to amplify the voices of prisoners, their families, and marginalized communities. She is also a co-founder of Daughters of Justice, a campaign led by daughters and family members of political prisoners at risk of execution. In 2025, The Guardian recognized Zhino for her efforts to raise international awareness of political prisoners and human rights abuses in Iran.
