Sophie de Graaf is the executive director of Lawyers for Lawyers, an independent Dutch organization founded in 1986 to defend and support lawyers worldwide who face threats, interference, or persecution in the exercise of their profession. Since 2019, she has led the organization’s global Defend, Empower and Influence programs, guiding its strategic development and international advocacy efforts to strengthen protections for lawyers as essential agents of the administration of justice. Lawyers for Lawyers holds ECOSOC consultative status with the United Nations and contributed as NGO observer to the drafting of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer.
