Self-taught Venezuelan violinist Wuilly Arteaga became a national symbol of resistance in the struggle against Venezuela’s communist regime when he began performing during the anti-Maduro protests that lasted for 130 days this past summer across Venezuela. After one such Caracas street protest, the artist was arrested and detained for three weeks. Despite the physical abuse he suffered at the hands of state police, Wuilly continues to bring attention to the government’s human rights abuses and plays for a democratic change in Venezuela.
