Syria’s Uncovered Story

Jenan Moussa

|

Lebanese journalist Jenan Moussa laments the fact that there are no female leaders struggling for women’s rights within Syria’s revolution. In the midst of war, Syrian women have much larger problems to face than the lack of women’s rights. In Syria, women’s rights are a luxury that no one can afford at the moment;everyday is a struggle simply to stay alive and feed their families. Moussa asks the audience not to expect Syrian women to conform to the Western model of demonstrating for their rights; instead, Syrian women will forge their own path in the fight for their freedoms.
