At the age of 16, Marina Nemat and her friends were jailed for criticizing Ayatollah Khomeini’s regime. During her two-year incarceration in Iran’s infamous Evin Prison, she was interrogated, tortured, and faced execution – and eventually released. Many of her friends were not so lucky. Marina dedicates her talk at the Oslo Freedom Forum in New York to the countless victims of the Iranian regime and reminds us why we must continue to shine a spotlight on tyranny around the world.
