Ethiopian journalist Abebe Gellaw describes Ethiopia as a country under one-man rule: a single person, Meles Zenawi, controls the television, the government, the newspaper, the radio, and everything else. Journalists inside and outside of Ethiopia are fighting back and criticizing his regime, but face serious personal threats and danger as a consequence. Although the media is a key tool for challenging this tyranny,Gellaw explains how powerful international figures and institutions nonetheless support Zenawi. He asks the international community to stop backing a man who brutally suppresses his people.
