With a very personal story, North Korean refugee Yeonmi Park shows us how information and culture are the lead forces chipping away at the Kim tyranny. Park explains how illicit movies, music, and books taught her as a child the values of love, beauty, and humanity. Park is adamant that her generation, the “Black Market Generation,” will be the one to change North Korea, prodded along by access to outside media and experience selling and buying on the black market. The regime’s hold on power, Park says, is unsustainable. She calls for help in bringing the outside world to North Koreans by increasing their access to information, thereby setting their minds free.
