Name, Shame, and Jail

Undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas conducts his investigations using a simple motto: “Name, shame, and jail.” As a journalist and lawyer in Ghana, Anas saw local court officials using transparent excuses to dismiss cases, often padding their wallets behind closed doors. So Anas decided to gather evidence that the courts couldn’t deny. Anas has disguised himself as a woman, a madman, a sheikh. In the process, he has exposed some of Ghana’s biggest cases of bribery, corruption, and human rights abuses in recent memory, and reminded us that we all must take risks to defend democracy.
