American activist and actor Jeffrey Wright details his experiences in Sierra Leone, working with Taia Lion Resources & Taia Peace Foundation, hybrid groups he co-founded for commercial philanthropic investments. Wright describes the challenges of the collapse of commodity prices, the lack of infrastructure, and most recently, Ebola, and how they have adversely affected Talia’s work. Wright reminds us that Ebola—with proper treatment and health infrastructure—is not a death sentence; but in order for the majority of Ebola sufferers to survive, Wright declares that the world must stand together to provide the best possible care, the proper infrastructure and the medical minds to combat this disease, before it is too late.
