Moroccan journalist and media entrepreneur Ahmed Benchemsi founded two top-rated publications, TelQuel magazine (in French) and Nichane (in Arabic). On the Oslo Freedom Forum stage in 2012, Benchemsi discussed the state of individual rights under Islam and the Moroccan monarchy, as well as how his publications identify and expose these inconsistencies. He stressed that expressing opinions and beliefs is a human right — not a sin that must be punished by the state.
