Haitian abolitionist and former child slave Jean-Robert Cadet exposes the life of Haitian children living under the restavec system, a type of domestic slavery in which children of poor families are sold as slaves to serve other Haitian families. He believes that the restavec system is more damaging to Haitian culture than colonial slavery because restavec children are completely alienated from all aspects of Haitian society and culture. Cadet explains that he founded Restavec No More, an organization that works to educate young Haitians about the cruelty of the restavec system, to hopefully spur the change in mentality that Haitian society needs to end child slavery.
