In North Korea, the government has a stranglehold on what information gets out and what gets in. But North Korean defector Jung Gwang-il is fighting back. He’s used his freedom to not only tell the world the unspeakable conditions he experienced as a political prisoner, but also smuggle western media back into the country. He took the stage at the Oslo Freedom Forum to explain why he believes a free North Korea will only come when the rest of the world understands what life is like in the country and when North Koreans understand what life is like in the rest of the world.
