Chinese activist Ti-Anna Wang’s story does not begin with her own actions, but those of her father, renowned pro-democracy advocate Wang Bingzhang. For over a decade, he has languished in solitary confinement in a Chinese prison on trumped up charges of espionage and terrorism. Wang—alongside fellow daughters of other imprisoned activists—is advocating for the release of her father and for democratic change in China. Although her work can often seem daunting, Wang reminds us that even small steps toward opposing dictatorship can help turn the tide against tyranny.
