How do authoritarian regimes exploit economic growth in order to entrench power and limit freedom? At a time when liberal democracies appear to be falling victim to their own inefficiencies, several countries are trying to divorce economic freedom from political freedom, achieving high rates of economic growth in the process. In a discussion moderated by journalist Michael Moynihan, Singaporean opposition leader Chee Soon Juan, British journalist Luke Harding, American professor of economics Donald Boudreaux, and Angolan journalist Rafael Marques de Morais, argue that such an approach is not only unsustainable, but also dangerous.
