Rarely is it an easy day in Kafranbel, Syria. The small town has been targeted by terrorist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda while enduring brutal attacks by the Assad regime. Raed Fares, however, continues to fight for a free Syria. A citizen journalist and community organizer, Raed uses satirical protest banners and cell phone videos to tell the outside world what is happening in Kafranbel. He has survived assassination attempts by extremist groups but is leading a movement to rebuild civil society and bring peace to Syria — one town at a time.
