Nonviolent activist and expert Srdja Popovic talks about how nonviolent movements can effect change under authoritarian regimes. He talks about the importance of mobilizing the “hobbits”–the unlikely faces of students, teenagers, and average citizens. Popovic addresses the success of nonviolent resistance throughout history, despite our fascination with armed conflict. In the mission to follow nonviolent resistance with a successful transition into democracy, Popovic reminds us that that we must learn from each other to outthink the dictators.
