North Korean defector and activist Park SangHak receives the Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent at the 2013 Oslo Freedom Forum. He dedicates his award to the 25,000 North Korean defectors living in South Korea and to the 20 million North Koreans still languishing under the Kim dictatorship. Frustrated by what he perceives as South Korean apathy to the plight of North Koreans, Park is nonetheless resolute: he and his organization,Fighters for a Free North Korea, will not stop their advocacy and will not cease launching balloons over the border until “North Korea is liberated with a Velvet Revolution of their own.”
