
Cuban dissident Berta Soler receives the VáclavHavel Prize for Creative Dissent on behalf of the Damas de Blanco, or Ladies in White, at the Oslo Freedom Forum. Soler—on her first trip outside of Cuba—is overcome with gratitude. As the leader of an organization of women who peacefully march each Sunday to end the Castro dictatorship, Soler reminds us that there is no such thing as a “dictatorship of the right or of the left: there are just dictatorships.”
