Yuan Yang is the Financial Times’ Europe-China correspondent. She returned to London after a six-year stint in Beijing, where she served as deputy bureau chief. Before becoming a journalist, Yuan co-founded Rethinking Economics, a charity headquartered in Manchester, United Kingdom, that campaigns to make economics more relevant to the real world. She’s served on the board of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China, defending press freedoms. Yuan has a new book forthcoming WHEN? on the rise and fall of social mobility in China.
