
Mónica López Baltodano is a Nicaraguan human rights lawyer, environmental activist and the author of the book Handing over a country: Legal implications of the Nicaragua Canal concession about the human rights violations and ecological destruction associated with Daniel Ortega regime’s plan to dig a maritime canal. Mónica is a research fellow at the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York, and President of POPOL NA, a Nicaraguan NGO illegally shut down and confiscated by Ortega`s regime.
