Jon Von Tetzchner is an Icelandic programmer, businessman, and founder of Vivaldi Technologies, home to the Vivaldi web browser. He is also the co-founder and former CEO of Opera Software, which he led for 15 years. During this time, Opera grew to a global company with more than 900 employees in 13 countries and was an early pioneer in mobile web browsing. Von Tetzchner left Opera in 2011 and founded Vivaldi Technologies in 2013, where he and his team are currently making a personal browser that takes into consideration each user’s individual needs. Von Tetzchner is a notable donor for promising start-ups in Norway, the U.S., and his native Iceland, and he has established the co-working space Innovation House in Reykjavik and Boston.
