Areej al-Sadhan is an activist and sister to Red Crescent humanitarian worker Abdulrahman al-Sadhan who disappeared in 2018 during a mass crackdown on critics and rights activists in Saudi Arabia. He was held in a secret prison and tortured by Saudi officials. Earlier last year, after three years without official charges or access to his lawyer, Abdulrahman was sentenced in a sham secret trial to 20 years in Saudi prison for tweeting. Areej remains outspoken on the ill treatment of her brother and other activists, and publicly denounced Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s brutal human right abuses.
