Anna Kwok

Executive director of the Hong Kong Democracy Council

Anna Kwok serves as the executive director of the Hong Kong Democracy Council (HKDC), a nonpartisan organization advocating for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement and its diaspora in the United States. Leading HKDC’s efforts, Kwok works tirelessly to advance basic human rights for Hong Kongers by fostering a cohesive and collaborative community overseas. Kwok’s activism gained international attention during Hong Kong’s 2019 protests, where she spearheaded major campaigns, including urging global leaders to support Hong Kong at the G20 Summit and providing real-time updates on police locations for protesters. Despite facing threats and a warrant for her arrest by the Hong Kong government, Kwok bravely continues her advocacy work, testifying before the United States Congress and being featured in various media outlets worldwide, including the BBC, the New York Times, and NPR.
