Rap Against Dictatorship

Pro-democracy thai rap group

Rap Against Dictatorship, an anti-military rap group, stirred controversy and sparked intense debate with their song “Prathet Ku Mi” (“Which is My Country”), which boldly addressed political and social issues in Thailand. Despite government attempts to ban the song and threaten legal action, RAD circumvented censorship using blockchain technology to preserve their message. The song’s impact reverberated across Thai society, reflecting widespread frustration with living under a dictatorial regime. Recognizing their bold dissent, Rap Against Dictatorship was honored as one of the winners of the 2019 Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent.
