Omar Abdulaziz, a prominent Saudi dissident now residing in Canada, uses his satirical YouTube show to expose the falsehoods of the Saudi regime. His activism sheds light on the continuous repression and human rights violations in a kingdom where freedom of expression is nonexistent and political satire is considered a crime. Despite attempts by the Saudi regime to silence him through intimidation, bribes, and surveillance, Abdulaziz remains dedicated to raising awareness about the situation. He received the Vaclav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent in 2020.
