Grace Gao

Grace Gao

Chinese human rights activist

When Grace Gao was a child in China, she was kept under 24-hour surveillance by security officers. Classmates refused to speak to her, forcing her to leave school. All because her father, Gao Zhisheng, is a well-known human rights lawyer in China, who was repeatedly disappeared for extended periods and tortured by police between 2007 and 2011. He has not been heard from since Aug. 13, 2017. Gao asks the world to not forget the thousands of families ripped apart by the Chinese regime.
