Explanation of Benefits

  • Theater Presentation: Representative(s) from your organization may join an HRF staff member on the mainstage to speak about your organization’s mission, relevant upcoming projects, and partnership with HRF for up to two minutes.
  • Cocktail Reception: You may host a reception immediately after our theater program concludes. Typically, HRF would organize an invitation-only happy hour social where representative(s) from your organization could give a short presentation about your work. HRF would collaborate with you to organize logistics and invite the most relevant OFF community members, assembling a high-impact and engaging group.
  • Roundtable Discussion: You may organize a private roundtable for 15-20 individuals to engage in meaningful dialogue about a topic of your choice (to be confirmed by HRF’s Legal & Policy team before the event). The roundtable would take place over breakfast/brunch before our theater program. HRF would collaborate with you to invite the most relevant OFF community members, assembling a high-impact and engaging group. Roundtables provide an opportunity for an honest, organic, and low-stress discussion between sponsors and members of our community. Some sponsors use roundtables as an opportunity to receive feedback on a particular project or brainstorm solutions to a problem; others may choose to explore a topic in-depth with experts from diverse fields.
  • Gala Dinner Table/Ticket: The OFF in NY Gala Dinner takes place in the evening, following our theater program, on Thursday, Sept. 28. The event includes talks and performances by members of the OFF community, a three-course meal, a silent auction, and time for networking. Gala tables, which seat eight people, are sold at $10,000. Individual tickets are sold at $1,500.
  • Theater Pass: The theater pass includes entry to theater programming on Thursday, Sept. 28. Theater passes are sold for $40.
  • Activist Sponsorship: You may sponsor a human rights activist or civil society leader to travel to New York and attend OFF in NY 2023. OFF can be an invaluable experience for activists, providing them with the knowledge, resources, and connections needed to amplify and enhance their work. Activist sponsorships are $3,000.
  • Student Sponsorship: You may sponsor a New York-based high school or college student to attend OFF in NY, which will serve as an important learning experience and networking opportunity. Student sponsorships are $10.
  • Acknowledgments: The sponsor may be acknowledged in all printed and digital materials, including the OFF website, program book, and marketing materials.

About the Oslo Freedom Forum

OFF is a transformative international conference series run by HRF bringing dissidents, activists, and journalists together with technologists, philanthropists, and academics to help make the world more peaceful, prosperous, and free. Described by The Economist as the “Davos for human rights” and by The New York Times as an opportunity for “the world’s dissidents to have their say,” OFF is a place where industry leaders and activists come together to create new partnerships and collaborations.

OFF in NY is a one-day event where our New York-based community convenes to listen to theater talks by renowned human rights advocates and learn about the global struggle for democracy. The theater program is followed by a Gala Dinner, which includes live performances, talks, and time for networking.

Over the past 13 years, the ideas generated during OFF have truly changed the world. At the event, HRF has brought together individuals like Saudi women’s rights activist Manal al-Sharif, North Korean author Yeonmi Park, Harvard cognitive scientist Steven Pinker, Russian punk band Pussy Riot, Congolese doctor and Nobel Peace Laureate Denis Mukwege, anti-corruption campaigner Bill Browder, Pakistani filmmaker and Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Nobel Prize-winning author Mario Vargas Llosa, Liberian Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee, Oscar-winning documentarian Bryan Fogel, as well as departed legends like Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, Czech writer and statesman Václav Havel, Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovksy, and many others.

OFF is a catalyst for human rights activists and their work: from sharing their stories on stage and raising awareness of key human rights issues, to developing new skills and refining practices that strengthen their missions, to networking with changemaking companies, policymakers, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, technologists, media professionals, and members of civil society.

The goals of the Oslo Freedom Forum are to:

  • Raise human rights to the top of the world agenda
  • Highlight the work of activists and innovators
  • Expose authoritarian regimes
  • Inspire action through the exchange of ideas
  • Build, grow, and equip a vibrant international community
  • Establish a human rights network of journalists
  • Connect participants with allies and supporters

Thanks to our generous supporters, this event continues to inspire change toward a freer tomorrow. To learn more, please visit oslofreedomforum.com.
